WWKIP – “World Wide Knit In Public Day” is an annual international event where people get together, knit in public, and often do demonstrations and short tutorials for curious passersby.
It was started in 2005 and has grown to involve 48 countries worldwide.
There are 50 individual events across the UK and Ireland. And two in Northern Ireland! One in Newtonabbey and one at the Folk Museum in Cultra, that’s where we’ll be.
- Ulster Folk and Transport Museum
- 18th of June 11 to 3.30pm.
- Address: 153 Bangor Rd, Holywood, BT18 OEU

- Train stop nearby: Cultra (on train to Bangor).
Members from our guild will be doing spinning demonstrations at Knit at the Museum, hosted at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum by the Belfast “Stitch and Bitch” knitting group. You get free admission into the Folk Museum 😀
Co-organiser, Nicola, invites participants to make some knitted woodland creatures!
“We thought it would be fun if we knit small woodland creatures (or flowers, toadstools, fairies, etc.) to hide in some of the gardens for the kiddies to find! We would love any help we can get with that!”
